Director of Technology (Espoo, Finland)



New Nordic School is transforming current systems of education. Our pre-K through grade 12 educational system empowers all students to explore their natural creativity, discover their true passions, and shape their own future. We apply the renowned Finnish curriculum integrated with best pedagogical practices from around the world to provide a personalized, purpose-based, and locally relevant system. We deliver our educational solution worldwide to existing and starting schools. Our current focus markets are India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

We are now finalizing our product concepts and implementing our first overseas client cases. We have considerable traction in our current focus markets of India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. We are now looking for a skilled:


Reporting to the Chief Education Officer, you will be given the opportunity to build and shape the technology platform to support our New Nordic School educational system.

We are looking for someone who believes current educational systems are outdated and wants to be part of a team to transform education. We want someone who is bold, takes risks, collaborates, and can lead on innovation and technology development at scale. You will collaborate on a high level with all internal and external stakeholders to build a unique digital platform for teachers, students, and parents.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Developing a strategy for the New Nordic School technology platform that is aligned with our education and business visions
  • Managing the implementation of the New Nordic School technology platform. Some components will be purchased, and some developed using outsourced staff. The digital platform, a single school solution for a K-12 New Nordic Schools, consists of the following areas:
    • Technology Enabled Learning Cycle
    • 3rd party data platform
    • Professional Development platform
    • Third-party content library partners
  • Design and delivery of technologies for an online school
  • Management of all stakeholders involved in the development and implementation
  • Contributing to client proposals


  • University or equivalent advanced degree
  • At least 5 years’ experience of IT project management
  • Experience in outsourcing IT projects
  • Strong UX/UI design knowledge
  • Knowledge of API integrations, REST, GRAPHQL
  • Customer-centric mindset
  • Experience in designing or developing quality management systems
  • Knowledge in using project management tools and/or agile development methods and understanding their applicability in an educational environment
  • As our company language is English, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are a must, including the ability to craft messages for a variety of audiences, synthesize information and present in front of a professional audience
  • Ability to inspire the team to innovate the future of learning and push the boundaries
  • Strong belief in our mission, vision, values, and goals
  • Comfortable with a start-up mentality

Good to haves:

  • Knowledge and understanding of education technology and online education/schools
  • Experience in a global or multi-regional role and demonstrable cultural awareness and respect for diversity
  • Ability to travel
