Technology Director (Espoo, Finland)

New Nordic School is on a mission to transform current systems of education. Our pre-K through 12 educational concept empowers all students to explore their natural creativity, discover their true passions, and shape their own future. We apply the renowned Finnish curriculum integrated with best pedagogical practices from around the world to create a personalized, multi-age, and strength-based system, the Nordic Baccalaureate. We deliver our service concept worldwide to existing and starting schools.

We operate through licensing the curriculum and delivering full-scope turn-key schools. We provide our clients with teacher training and consulting on their professional development, quality assurance, and educational environments. We are now finalizing our product concepts and implementing our first overseas client cases. We have considerable traction in our current focus markets of India, Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

To design and drive our digital technology ecosystem, we are now looking for a skilled


Reporting to the Chief Education Officer, you will be given the opportunity to continue to build and shape the digital platform ecosystem to support our New Nordic School Educational System. You will collaborate on a high level with all internal and external stakeholders to build a unique digital offering for teachers, students, and parents. We are looking for someone who believes current educational systems are outdated and wants to be part of a team to transform education. We want someone who is bold, takes risks, collaborates and can lead innovation and technology development at scale.

Your main responsibilities include:

– Leading the design and delivery of a fully digital New Nordic School smart technology platform (consisting of curriculum, continuum of learning, teacher training, quality assurance, learning environment) in collaboration with the team
– Implementing a digital strategy that focuses on the following areas:
– Delivery of Technology Enabled Learning Cycle – TELC
– Development of a data platform (New Nordic School Smart Platform)
– Deployment of a basic Professional Development Platform
– Identification of third-party library partners
– Design and delivery of a single school solution for a K-12 New Nordic School-aligned to education and business vision
– Design and delivery of an online school
– Project management of all stakeholders involved in the development and implementation
– Contributing to building the service offering and proposals to clients


– At least 5 years’ experience of project management and experience in IT solutions (preferably education)
– IT infrastructure knowledge of systems including UX/UI, APIs, REST, GRAPHQL and the ability to integrate different systems under the New Nordic School
– Ability to inspire the team to innovate the future of learning and push the boundaries
– Experience in sales and implementation of (educational) IT solutions – Customer-centric mindset
– Knowledge and understanding of education technology and online education/schools
– Proficiency in service design
– Experience in designing or developing quality management systems
– Knowledge in using project management tools and/or agile development methods and understanding their applicability in an educational environment
– As our company language is English, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are a must, including the ability to craft messages for a variety of audiences, synthesize information and present in front of a professional audience
– Strong belief in our mission, vision, values, and goals
– Comfortable with a start-up mentality

Good to haves

– University or equivalent advanced degree
– Experience in a global or multi-regional role and demonstrable cultural awareness and respect for diversity
– Ability to travel
– Understanding of mindfulness
